Frequently Asked Questions

  • Attic ladder pricing depends on a few things, Mainly, where in the home the ladder is being installed, such as the garage, hallway, closet, etc. Also, the floor to ceiling height makes a difference. Replacing a standard ladder in a garage ceiling is a much different project from creating a new opening, installing in a small closet, or installing a specialty ladder for a 10 to 12-foot ceiling. When you contact us for an attic ladder quote, we will ask you all the right questions to get you a fast, free, and accurate quote.

  • Yes, and if the dimensions do not match, the opening may need modification or a different ladder model may be a better fit. We include all modifications to the current opening in our pricing so there are never any surprises.

  • Yes, in many homes a larger framed opening can be created to accommodate the installation of a pull-down attic ladder. However in locations other than the garage ceiling, this depends on many factors, such as the direction and layout of the beams and trusses, if the ladder will have enough room to open and close, nearby vents and/or electrical wiring,  and the landing space below. We have been performing attic ladder installations for almost twenty years, so with a couple of pictures, we typically know right away what will and won’t work for your space.

  • Often, yes. A larger opening can make access much more comfortable, especially if you’re using the attic for storage but the framing around the opening must be evaluated and modified correctly. We offer standard and wider ladder options, including the common 22.5-inch width and the upgraded wider 25.5-inch widths (where the home allows). Structural beams can sometimes prevent the installation of the wider model, but we’re here to help determine if that’s the case.

  • Yes. Florida Attic Professionals offers specialty attic-ladder options for tall ceilings, including models designed for heights above roughly 10 feet 3 inches and up to about 12 feet, depending on the current product selected. These are not the same as trimming a standard ladder beyond its intended range. Tall-ceiling access should use a ladder specifically rated and designed for the actual height. We are also one of few companies in the entire state of Florida that install attic ladders above 12 feet.

  • For most of our residential projects, we prefer quality aluminum ladders because they are lighter to operate, do not have the same tendency to split or warp as aging wood components, and are available with strong weight ratings and slip-resistant steps. Our focus is on a safe, sturdy installed system rather than the cheapest unit on a store shelf.

  • Florida Attic Professionals commonly installs aluminum ladder options rated up to 375 pounds for standard residential applications, with specialty models varying by manufacturer.

  • Yes. Second-floor ladder installation is possible in many homes, but the work area, ceiling height, access and logistics can make it more involved than a ground-floor installation. We price the project based on the actual location and modifications required. Photos of the room, ceiling opening and staircase/access path are helpful when quoting.

  • Yes. In fact, planning the ladder and storage together usually creates a better result. We can build a stable landing area at the top of the ladder and extend the reinforced flooring into a practical storage platform while preserving insulation depth and access to ducts/equipment. This is one of our most common bundled attic upgrades.

  • Sometimes, provided the ladder is appropriate for the opening, ceiling height, framing and application. However, homeowner-supplied ladders can create delays when the wrong size or model arrives, so we prefer to review the product information before the installation date. When we supply the ladder, we can match the unit to the project and quote the installation as one complete scope.

  • Yes, relocation may be possible if the new location works with the ceiling framing, attic clearance, ducts, wiring, plumbing and room below.

  • Yes, we can replace an old or broken ladder. We do not recommend repairing old or broken ladders due to safety concerns.
